The Bierwirt - a place of tradition
The history of the hotel
In the middle of the Tyrolean mountains, the Bierwirt has a long and momentous history. It is a traditional hotel on the outskirts of Innsbruck. The Bierwirt has seen a lot of history up-close and we are happy to tell you about it. Stay at a historic building during your holiday!
The Bierwirt - a family-owned business for generations
In the days of horse and cart, you brought your own food and got a beer from the "Bierwirt" - the German for innkeeper! The special thing about us: very few businesses have remained in the family as long as this one. It has always been at the heart of community life in the former village of "Amras". The music, shooting and traditional costume clubs, and the fire department, have always held their ceremonial dinners at the Bierwirt!
As a family, we are all too happy to uphold traditions and see young and old come together!
A traditional building in Innsbruck
As early as the 10th century, the castle "ad umbras" (in the shade) had been built, destroyed and rebuilt many times over. The present architecture of Ambras Castle, as it is now called, originates from the years 1564-1584. Built in the Renaissance style, the castle, which is near our hotel, became a meeting place for the nobility. Only 30 years after the castle's renovation, our Bierwirt was built nearby in early 1615.
Tradition runs through the business
Our 4-star hotel is still run as a family business. Tyrolean comfort still finds its harmony in our hotel and the rooms, the restaurant and the exterior facade are designed in a traditional Tyrolean style. The hotel's history also lives on in its cooking: our staff will serve you regional delicacies, deliciously prepared.
