Shopping in Innsbruck
Innsbruck: where shopping is an experience
Whether casual window shopping along the alleyways of the historic old town, a unique shopping experience at the Rathausgalerien or a visit to one of the big shopping centres such as the DEZ – Innsbruck offers a shopping mix to suit every taste.
The newly designed Maria-Theresien-Strasse at the heart of Innsbruck is the perfect place for strolling and window shopping. A detour down the many side streets is also well worthwhile, such as the Meraner Strasse, Museumsstrasse, Markt- und Burggraben and Anichstrasse. A tour of Innsbruck’s old town with its charmingly managed shops is a must along with a visit to one of the world’s biggest Swarovski stores.
Shopping and enjoyment
The Rathausgalerien are the administrative centre of the town and comprise an elegant shopping mall with a glass roof, built according to the plans of French star architect Dominique Perrault. The 37 m high glass campanile towers over the inner city area and offers magnificent views. Below, sophisticated boutiques can be found alongside bars and restaurants.
With its 100 year old tradition, the roots of the Kaufhaus Tyrol date back to the era of the monarchy. Today, it forms the modern centre of the new City-Shopping-Welt Innsbruck: local and international labels are offered over a total of 33,000 m2 of space and include
- Peek & Cloppenburg
- H & M
The shopping centres on the outskirts of Innsbruck, such as the DEZ, are ideal for a big shopping tour or a relaxed shopping trip. The biggest shopping centre in western Austria is located just a few minutes’ walk from the Bierwirt.
