Tyrol: a biking paradise
Autumn is cycling time in Tyrol
When an area has as many mountains as Tyrol, it is bound to attract mountain bikers. And rightly so: the Bike Trail Tirol offers no less than 1,000 km of mountain biking pleasure which can be ‘experienced’ over 32 separate stages.
The route layout of the Bike Trail Tirol enables individual route planning and you can choose your own starting point. It is difficult to stray from the route as the uniform signposting along the trail guides bikers safely to their destination without any detours.
The Nordketten-Downhill in Innsbruck is a true hotspot for bikers: the legendary 4.2 km route runs from the Seegrube at 1,030 m altitude down to the Hungerburg and then on almost as far as the Golden Roof and has secured itself cult status on the scene.
Trails and parks wherever you look
The team at the Hotel Bierwirt recommends the following trails:
- Bike-Park-Tirol at the Bergeralm
- Bikepark Hopfgarten
- Laubwerk in the Alpbachtal Valley
- Höllenritt-Himmelfahrt in Mayrhofen
The Lisi-Osl trail was opened in Kirchberg in honour of the Brixental mountain biking World Cup winner. 450 m of altitude are overcome here over a length of 2,300 m. The route intuitively follows the natural features of the landscape. The new trail covers difficult ratings S1 to S2 (easy to medium) and is a highlight for genuine downhill enthusiasts as well as being easy for single-trail beginners to tackle.
